(pacathletics.org) – The final flight seedings have been determined for the 29th annual Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Tennis Championship Tournament, slated for Friday-Saturday, Oct. 18-19. The two-day, single-elimination tournament returns to the Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie, Pa. for the 12th consecutive year, beginning with both the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds on Friday and concluding with the third-place and championship matches on Saturday. Play begins each day at 8:30 a.m. and admission is free to the public. Westminster College, seeking its second-straight league title, enters the championship tournament as the favorite with top seeds in four of the six singles flights. The Titans and 14th-year head coach Scott Renninger finished the 2013 regular season with a 15-0 overall record and an unblemished 9-0 mark in PAC play. Westminster and Saint Vincent College finished tied with 49 total points in the final team standings at last season’s championship tournament, with Saint Vincent earning the league’s automatic qualifying bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship due to a 6-3 head-to-head match victory over Westminster on October 12, 2012. Saint Vincent second-year head coach Christopher McMahon was tabbed as the 2012 PAC Coach of the Year, while Grove City College’s Caroline McGuire (Shorewood, Wis./Dominican) was named the 2012 PAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Year after finishing 3-0 at the championships. McGuire, who entered the tournament as the third seed in the number one singles flight, posted a 7-5, 6-2 victory over top-seeded Amanda Gans (Upper St. Clair, Pa./Upper St. Clair) of Saint Vincent in last season’s title match. McGuire also went 3-0 at the number five singles spot in 2011 to earn her first individual conference title. McGuire is one of five individual champions returning from last season’s championship tournament. She will enter the tournament as the number three seed in the first singles flight. Westminster’s Caitie Hosler (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Central) is the number one seed in the first singles flight. Hosler claimed the individual title at second singles in 2012 after a second-place finish at first singles in 2011. She also won the individual title at second singles in 2010. Gans is the second seed at first singles. She was a runner-up at number one singles in 2012 and finished third at number two and number three singles in 2011 and 2010. Westminster’s Mariah Turiano (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) is the number one seed at second singles. Grove City’s Karolina Lagerquist (Pittsburgh, Pa./Homeschooled), the 2012 individual champion at third singles, is the flight’s number two seed, while Saint Vincent’s Jacquelyn Hauser (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) is the number three seed. Hauser was the runner-up at number four singles a year ago. Westminster’s Sydney Sterner (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny) enters the tournament as the number one seed at third singles. Saint Vincent’s Kyle Auman (St. Marys, Pa./Elk County Catholic), the 2012 individual champion at number six singles, is the number two seed. Thomas More College’s Anna Hetzer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) earned the number one seed at fourth singles. Westminster’s Heather Santa (Butler, Pa./Butler), the individual champion at fourth singles in 2012, is the number two seed. Santa also finished as the runner-up at fifth singles in 2011. Grove City’s Linnea Peters (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) is the top seed at fifth singles, while Westminster’s Christijana Vucenovic (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) is the number seed at sixth singles. In doubles play, Grove City’s McGuire and Lagerquist secured the number one seed in the first doubles flight, with Westminster’s Hosler and Turiano seeded second. McGuire and former teammate Megan Barnett played to a number two doubles championship in 2011. Hosler won the number one doubles title in 2012 with former teammate Alex Bailey and finished as a runner-up at number one doubles in both 2010 and 2011. The Thomas More tandem of Hetzer and Jenny Block (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) will enter the championship tournament as the top seed at second doubles, with Saint Vincent’s Auman and Regina Woloshun (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) claiming the number two seed. Auman and former teammate Jessica McKetta won the third doubles title in 2012. Geneva College’s Brittany Kress (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) and Courtney Light (Lebanon, Pa./Northern Lebanon) earned the top seed at third singles. The tandem finished fourth at third doubles a year ago. A brief on-court awards ceremony will follow the final championship match on Saturday.
