(pacathletics.org) – The Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) announced its 2016-17 All-PAC Men’s Basketball teams and yearly award winners Tuesday. The all-conference teams, as well as the PAC's yearly award winners, are determined by the league’s 10 head coaches. Thiel College junior guard Tyreik Burton (Lewes, Del. | Cape Henlopen) collected PAC Player of the Year honors, the school’s first since Blair Rozenblad in 2011. He is the fourth Tomcat to receive player of the year honors from league coaches. Burton led the PAC in scoring this season, averaging 18.0 points per game. He also ranked third in the league in free throw percentage (.821) and steals per game (1.7), fourth in minutes played per game (32.4) and three-point field goals made per game (2.6) and fifth in assists per game (3.6). Burton finished the year with six 20-point and two 30-point scoring efforts. He averaged a league-best 17.9 points per game in 15 PAC games this season. Also an All-PAC First Team selection, this is Burton's first career all-conference honor. Thomas More College fourth-year head coach Drew Cooper was selected as the PAC’s Coach of the Year. Cooper led the second-seeded Saints to their second PAC title this season (2009) and has had his program in the league’s championship tournament title game in three of the last four seasons. Thomas More is currently 22-6 and finished its league regular season schedule 15-3, which included a perfect 9-0 record at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. Waynesburg and seventh-year head coach Mark Christner were voted the PAC’s Team Sportsmanship Award winners. It is the Yellow Jackets first time claiming the award. 2016-17 PAC Men's Basketball Awards PAC Player of the Year: Thiel junior guard Tyreik Burton PAC Coach of the Year: Thomas More fourth-year head coach Drew Cooper PAC Team Sportsmanship Award: Waynesburg 2016-17 All-PAC Men's Basketball Teams First Team Name School Pos.
