WAYNESBURG PLAYERS INVITED TO COMBINE (2/1/10)
A trio of Waynesburg senior football players in OL Jared
Bussard, DB Dylan August and DB Scott Cree
have been invited to the EAST PREPS Pro Football Combine.
The event, sponsred by Hitz Sports, takes place Feb. 26 and is a
chance for the Yellow Jacket players to showcase their skills in
front of agents and scouts from various professional football
leagues, including the NFL.
TWO PAC SQUADS RANKED IN FINAL ECAC POLL (1/4/10)
Two PAC schools, Thomas More College and Washington &
Jefferson, were named in the
Eastern College Athletic Conference's (ECAC) Lambert Meadowlands
Division III Football Poll. The weekly poll, released today,
lists the Saints at No. 4, while the Presidents came in at No. 7
in the last poll of the season. The Division III award was first
presented in 1966 and recognizes supremacy in Eastern college
football.
THREE NAMED ALL-AMERICAN BY D3FOOTBALL.COM

Three PAC football standouts have been named to the
2009 Division III All-American teams, releases Saturday
prior to the Stagg Bowl by the
D3Football.com website.
Thomas More senior LB Brad Steinmetz, the 2009 PAC Player
of the Year, paced the conference with a second team honor,
while third team laurels went to Saint freshman DB Zach
Autenreib and W&J senior WR Craig Besong.
SEVEN PAC GRIDDERS NAMED ECAC ALL-STARS (12/17/09)
Seven PAC football standouts (four from
Washington &
Jefferson, three from
Waynesburg) have been named to the
2009 ECAC Division III Southwest Football All-Star team. W&J
selections included senior DE Jacob Bloomhuff, junior LB
Nathan Harmatto, junior DB Craig Sedunov and junior P
Joe Kelly. The Yellow Jackets were represented by senior
OL Jared Bussard, senior RS Scott Cree and
freshman K Jon Storck.
PAC PLACES PAIR ON AFCA ALL-AMERICA TEAM (12/15/09)

Brad Steinmetz and W&J senior defensive end
Jacob Bloomhuff - have been named to the 25-man
NCAA Division III Football All-America team, released today
by the American Football Coaches
Association (AFCA). Steinmetz, the 2009 PAC Player of the
Year, led the 11-1 Saints to their second consecutive PAC title
and NCAA playoff berth after posting 107 tackles, including 13.5
for losses, along with five sacks and one interception.
Bloomhuff was among the D-III national leaders in quarterback
sacks with 14.5, while adding 35
tackles, 17 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and an
interception for the 9-2 Presidents.

PAC SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDEES RELEASED (12/10/09)
The Presidents’ Athletic
Conference (PAC) has announced the
PAC Team Sportsmanship Award
winners for Fall 2009 sports. The PAC Team Sportsmanship
Award was started in the 2008-09 sports season, and is an effort
to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among
conference teams. The award is sponsored by the PAC
Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and is presented to one
team in each of the 19 PAC-sponsored varsity sports.
BETHANY STAFF TO COACH IN ALL-STAR GAME (12/3/09)
Bethany head football coach
Tim Weaver and three members
of his staff
will coach in the Division III Football Senior Classic,
which will be played Saturday, Dec. 5 in Salem, Va. Weaver will
be joined by Bison assistants
Ryan Lieb,
Marcus Wilder
and
Steve Potter. They will head up the South
defense, while the staff from Franklin & Marshall will coach the
offense. This is the first year for the Division III Football
Senior Classic, which is being hosted by the Collegiate
Development Football League (CDFL). The game will be played at
Salem Stadium in Salem, Va., which is home for the NCAA Division
III National Championship game, also known as the Amos Alonzo
Stagg Bowl. A total of 90 players have been invited and among
those on the South roster are
Washington & Jefferson DE Jacob Bloomhuff and
Waynesburg DB/KR
Scott Cree, both First
Team All-PAC selections.
TMC DROPS NCAA HEARTBREAKER, 31-29 (11/28/09)
The PAC champion Thomas More football team
saw its 2009 season come to a heartbreaking end on Nov. 28,
as the Saints (11-1) dropped a
31-29 decision to visiting Johns Hopkins University (10-2)
in the second round of the NCAA Division III football playoffs
at The Bank of Kentucky Field. After trailing the entire
contest, Thomas More took its only lead at 29-28 on a TD pass
with 51 seconds to play, only to see JHU respond with a
game-winning 43-yard field goal as time expired.
W&J's ERDELY NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN (11/24/09)

Mitch Erdely was selected to the 2009 ESPN The
Magazine
Academic All-America College Division Football Team on
Tuesday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Erdely is the sixth football player in school history to be
selected an Academic All-American, including only the third
named to the first team. He was recently named First Team
All-PAC after finishing as W&J’s third-leading tackler with 62
stops, including five for a loss. Erdely holds a 3.90
grade-point average majoring in accounting.
PAC TEAMS POST 2-1 POSTSEASON RECORD (11/21/09)
Three PAC football teams competed in postseason football
action on Saturday, Nov. 21. Leading the way was 2009 PAC
champion
Thomas More, which jumped out to a 28-10 halftime lead, then
held off a game DePauw squad to post a
49-39 victory in the
opening round of the 2009 NCAA Division III playoffs. With the
victory, the Saints (11-0) advance to the NCAA second round,
where they will host Johns Hopkins University in a second round
contest at the Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Ky.,
on Saturday, Nov, 28 at noon. In other NCAA playoff action, PAC
runner-up
Washington & Jefferson (9-2) saw its 2009 season come to an
end following a 55-0 blanking at the hands of defending national
champion Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio. Finally,
Geneva (8-3) captured its record-fifth NCCAA Victory Bowl
title, as the Golden Tornadoes went on the road to edge
Greenville (Ill.) 29-28. GT running back Gerard Muschette
was named Offensive MVP.

PAIRINGS FOR "PAC-MAC CHALLENGE" SET (11/18/09)
The PAC and the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) have
announced the pairings for the
"PAC-MAC Football Challenge Series," which will take place
during the second weekend of the 2010 and 2011 football seasons.
The pairings were determined by matching up the top teams in
each conference based on the 2009 final results, followed by the
second-place teams, etc. PAC member Thomas More College is not
participating due to geographic considerations.
2009 ALL-PAC TEAMS, AWARDEES RELEASED (11/16/09)
The 2009 All-PAC football teams
have been released. PAC champion Thomas More swept the top two
conference awards, as TMC senior linebacker Brad Steinmetz
was named 2009 PAC Player of the Year, while third-year
Saint mentor Jim Hilvert was tabbed as PAC Coach of the
Year for the second consecutive season.
PAC PLACES PAIR IN NCAA D-III PLAYOFFS (11/15/09)
For the third time in the past five seasons, the PAC has had
a pair of teams selected to compete in the NCAA Division III
Football Playoffs, which begin this Saturday (Nov. 21).
Unbeaten
PAC champion Thomas More (10-0) will be at home at The Bank of
Kentucky Field against SCAC champion DePauw (7-2) at noon. The
Saints of head coach Jim Hilvert earned the PAC's
automatic bid into the field.
Washington & Jefferson (9-1)
earned one of six Pool C at-large bids and will play at
defending national champion Mount Union (10-0) in Alliance, Ohio
at noon. The W&J-MUC matchup pits President head coach Mike
Sirianni, a former standout wide receiver for the Purple
Raiders, against his mentor, Larry Kehres. The

SAINT VINCENT (11/14/09)
The 2009 PAC football regular season is in the books, as all
nine conference teams were in action for "PAC Football Rivalry
Week" on November 14. PAC champion Thomas More (10-0) made its
case for a first round home game in the NCAA D-III playoffs next
week, as the Saints trounced previously unbeaten Heartland
champion Mount St. Joseph 42-17
in Bridge Bowl XIV in Cincinnati. Washington & Jefferson (9-1,
5-1 PAC) kept its hopes for a Pool C at-large bid to the NCAA
D-III playoffs alive by defeating Waynesburg
35-12 in the PAC Backyard
Brawl. The northern games both featured thrilling finishes.
Grove City (5-5, 4-2 PAC) rallied from a 17-0 deficit to defeat
Thiel (3-7, 1-5 PAC) 31-24
in double overtime in the 26th Annual Mercer County Cup.
Westminster scored the winning touchdown with 11 seconds to
play, marking the final of eight lead changes in "The Game," as
the Titans edged Geneva (7-3)
31-28. Finally, Bethany (3-7) kept Saint Vincent (0-10)
winless with a 34-13 road
win in "The Green Game." Conference
statistics through the conclusion of the 2009 are now online.
NCAA Division III playoff pairings will be announced on Sunday
between 3-3:30 p.m.
GENEVA ACCEPTS INVITE TO VICTORY BOWL (11/11/09)
The Golden Tornado football team has accepted
the
National Christian College Athletic Association's (NCCAA)
invitation to the Victory Bowl. Geneva will face Greenville
College (Ill.) next Saturday, November 21 at noon. The location
for the game has yet to be set, pending the results of
Saturday's games. This game is Geneva's school-record setting
sixth Victory Bowl appearance; the GTs are 4-1 in their previous
five meetings, including a 45-17 win against Malone College in
2007.
EIGHT NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAMS (11/5/09)
A total of eight PAC football players have been honored with
selection to the
2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District College
Division Football teams, released today by the
College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA). Four players were selected
for All-District first team laurels: the Waynesburg duo of

Geneva College senior DE Brian Wilson

been named National Player of the Week by the National
Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) for the week
ending October 17, 2009.
WAYNESBURG'S KRAUSE HONORED BY D3FOOTBALL.COM
Waynesburg defensive lineman Matt Krause was
named to
D3Football.com's Team of the Week for his accomplishments in
last week's bout against Geneva. In his first collegiate start,
Krause posted a game-high 12 tackles, which included six solo
take-downs, two for a loss and a sack.
GENEVA'S MUSCHETTE HONORED BY NCCAA (10/15/09)
Geneva junior running back, Gerard Muschette, was
named the National Christian College Athletic Association's
(NCCAA) national player of the week for his career-high 17
touches for 219 yards and three touchdowns last week against
Grove City. So far this season, Muschette is averaging 111 yards
per game.
W&J'S BLOOMHUFF EARNS TRIO OF AWARDS (10/7/09)
W&J senior defensive end Jacob Bloomhuff has been
honored with three awards this week for his achievements in
the Presidents' 31-10 victory over Geneva. In addition to being
selected as PAC football defensive player of the week, Bloomhuff
was also named to D3Football.com's National Division III Team of
the Week and the ECAC Division III Southwest Defensive Player of
the Week. Bloomhuff recorded a career-high 4.5 sacks for a loss
of 20 yards.

Division III players
selected as semifinalists
for the 2009 William V. Campbell Trophy
(formerly known as the Draddy Trophy),
and as candidates for the 2009 National Football Foundation (NFF)
National Scholar-Athlete Awards.
Nominated by their schools, which are limited to one nominee
each, semifinalists must be a senior or graduate student in
their final year of eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a
4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability as a first team
player or significant contributor, and have demonstrated strong
leadership and citizenship.
The NFF Awards Committee will select and announce up to 15
finalists on Oct. 29.

TMC PICKED TO REPEAT AS PAC CHAMPS (8/5/09)
Thomas More College was picked to
capture the 2009 football championship in the Presidents'
Athletic Conference (PAC),
according to the preseason poll released at the 2009 PAC
Football Media Day at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe.
Voters in the polls included conference head coaches, sports
information directors (SIDs), and members of the media present
at the conference media day. Thomas More earned 17 of 28 total
first-place votes and 200 points in the conference poll to edge
second place Washington & Jefferson (191) by just nine points,
followed by Grove City (115), Waynesburg (86), Westminster (82),
Bethany (67) and Thiel (43).
W&J, PAC GRIDDERS EARN PRESEASON LAURELS
The 2009 football season has yet to begin, but the PAC has
received preseason recognition from several media sources.
Washington & Jefferson, which advanced to the national
quarterfinals in the 2008 NCAA Division III playoffs,
is ranked in a pair of preseason Top 25 national polls. The
Presidents are ranked 13th by The Sporting News and 17th
by Lindy's. In the
D3Football.com poll,
W&J is 14th, while Thomas More is listed among others receiving
votes.Three PAC standouts have been honored with
selection to various preseason All-American teams. Senior LB
Brad Steinmetz of defending PAC champion Thomas More
was tabbed to the Sporting News All-America squad and was
a Lindy's second team selection. Waynesburg senior return
specialist Scott Cree and Bethany senior TE Jorge
Laboy were each tabbed to the
Preseason All-America team selected by the
D3Football.com website,
with
Cree earning first team honors and Laboy garnering second
team recognition.
