TWO PAC CAGERS NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT (2/4/10)
Two PAC women's basketball standouts have been selected to
the
2010 ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic
All-District Basketball teams, released today by the
College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA). In District II, W&J senior F
Maggie Gibson was a first team selection who now advances
to the national Academic All-America ballot, while Saint Vincent
sophomore F
Brittany Sedlock earned third team laurels.
TWO PAC TEAMS REGIONALLY RANKED BY NCAA (2/4/10)
The NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Committee has
ranked
Washington & Jefferson and Thomas More, No. 2 and No. 3
respectively, in the Great Lakes in the first regional
rankings of the season. The rankings are compiled by the
committee then used to determine the field and seeding for the
2010 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship. The
Presidents and the Saints battle for the conference tournament
home-court advantage Saturday in Crestview Hills, Ky.; tip-off
is 1 p.m.
TMC, W&J REMAIN NATIONALLY RANKED (2/3/10)
The top PAC teams in Thomas More and Washington & Jefferson
remain nationally ranked in the Top 25 according to two national
polls. Released Tuesday, the
WCBA/USA Today
Division III Top 25 poll, Thomas More (17-2) moved up one spot
to No. 15, while the Presidents (also 17-2) jump two spots to be
tied at No. 18. In the
D3Hoops.com national poll, Thomas More remains ranked at No. 17,
while Wash. & Jeff. moved up a spot to No. 20. The two squads square
off for the final time in the regular season this Saturday, as the
Saints host the Presidents in Crestview Hills, Ky. for a 1 p.m.
bout.
TMC, W&J REMAIN IN NATIONAL TOP 25 POLLS (1/27/10)
The
Thomas More and Washington & Jefferson women's basketball teams
are both ranked in each of this week's national Division III Top
25 polls. In the
WBCA/USA Today
Division III Top 25 poll, the Saints (15-2) are ranked 16th,
down two spots from last week's #14 ranking, while the
Presidents (15-2) are tied for 20th, up two spots from last
week's #22 ranking. In the
D3Hoops.com national Top
25, Thomas More is ranked 17th (unchanged from last week),
while Washington & Jefferson is ranked 21st, up two spots from
last week's #23 ranking.
THOMAS MORE-WAYNESBURG GAMES CHANGED (1/6/10)
Due to weather concerns forecasted for the Greater
Cincinnati and Western Pennsylvania areas this weekend, the PAC
basketball double-header between
Thomas More and
Waynesburg this Saturday has been moved from Crestview Hills, Ky., to
Waynesburg, Pa. The women's game will tip off at 1 p.m.,
followed by the men's game at 3 p.m. Additionally, the two teams
will face each other again Feb. 10 at Thomas More; women will
play at 4:30 p.m. and men will play at 6:30 p.m.
DICKMAN NAMED PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN (11/9/09)
Thomas More 6-0 junior C Nicole Dickman has been
selected as a D3Hoops.com
preseason All-American, as the junior center was tabbed to the
women's Preseason All-America fourth team by the website.
W&J WOMEN PICKED FIRST IN PAC HOOPS POLL

The Washington & Jefferson College women's
basketball team
was
picked to capture the 2009-10 championship in the
Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), according to the
preseason poll released following the 2009-10 PAC Basketball
Media Day conference call. Voters in the poll included
conference head coaches, sports information directors, and
members of the media participating in the media day conference

WU'S JONES HONORED BY PAC SAAC (10/20/09)
The PAC has announced that Samantha Greenwood of
Chatham University and Elisha Jones of Waynesburg
University have been named
Scholar-Athletes of the Month by the PAC Student-Athlete
Advisory Council (SAAC) for October, 2009.
DRAKE NAMED INTERIM COACH AT GENEVA (9/24/09)
Renee (Freeman) Drake, a former basketball standout and
assistant coach at Geneva,
has been named interim head coach of
the Golden Tornado women's basketball program for the 2009-10
season. Drake replaces Ron Galbreath, who recently
retired due to health concerns after a coaching career which
spanned over 35 years and over 600 career wins. She was a former
assistant coach under Galbreath at Geneva from 2004-07 and most
recently served as head girls basketball coach at Western Beaver
High School. Drake, a 2003 Geneva graduate,
currently ranks ninth on Geneva’s all-time scoring list with
1153 points and sixth in career rebounding with 766 caroms.
GALBREATH RETIRES AS GENEVA HEAD COACH (9/15/09)
After more than five decades as a basketball coach, Ron Galbreath, Geneva women's basketball head coach since 2002, has
announced his retirement. Galbreath spent 25 season at
Westminster College coaching its men's basketball team prior to
his position at Geneva College. In his long and distinguished
career as a head coach at the collegiate level, Galbreath
posted an overall record of 634-192. He was inducted into the
Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1993.
THIEL HIRES ZEUCH AS HEAD COACH (9/9/09)
Angela
M. “Angie” Zeuch
has been hired as head women’s basketball coach at Thiel College.
She replaces Artina Trader,
who resigned from the position in August. Zeuch takes over the
Thiel program after spending two seasons as an assistant at
Wesleyan University in Middleton, Conn. Prior to her stint at
Wesleyan, Zeuch spent three years (2004-07) as an assistant at
Division I Colgate University. A 2004 graduate of Case Western
Reserve University, Zeuch was a four-year starter and two-year
captain for the Spartans.
W&J DUO TABBED TO ECAC SOUTH ALL-STARS

ECAC Division III South Women's Basketball All-Stars on
April 3 . Senior F

Thomas More senior guard
Jayme Thiem has
been recognized as
State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team Honorable Mention by
the
Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Friday
(March 20). Thiem is a two-time All-PAC first team selection who
led the PAC champion Saints to a 28-3 mark and an appearance in
the NCAA Division III "Sweet Sixteen" in 2009.

THOMAS MORE FALLS 67-51 TO #2
HOPE IN 2009 NCAA DIVISION III TOURNAMENT SECTIONAL
The PAC champion Thomas More College women's basketball team
saw its 2008-09 season come to an end Friday night (March 13)
following a
67-51 home loss to #2-ranked Hope College in the sectional
semifinal round of the
2009 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament. With
the loss, the Saint season ends at 28-3 overall.
TMC TO HOST NCAA TOURNAMENT
SECTIONAL
Thomas More College will host the sectional semifinals and
finals of the
2009 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament this
weekend in Crestview Hills, Ky. The three-game sectional is
arguably the toughest in the nation, as all four competing teams
are ranked in the national Top 10 by both the
WBCA and
D3Hoops.com. The
opening game has unbeaten George Fox facing 2008 Final Four
participant Oglethorpe on Friday (March 13) at 5 p.m., followed
by the PAC champion Saints battling #2-ranked Hope at 7 p.m. The
winners of the two Friday contests will meet at TMC Saturday
(March 14) at 7 p.m. for the right to advance to the Division
III Final Four in Holland, Mich. next weekend (March 20-21).

57-50; SAINT CAGERS ADVANCE TO NCAA "SWEET SIXTEEN"
Senior G Jayme Thiem scored a game-high 22 points to
lead the Thomas More women’s basketball team to a
57-50 win over
host Messiah College in the second round of the
NCAA Division
III Women's Basketball Tournament tonight (Saturday, March 7) at
Brubaker Auditorium in Grantham, Pa. With the win the Saints
improve to 28-2
and will host the regional semifinals and finals this weekend
(Friday-Saturday, March 13-14). The Saints will play No. 2
ranked Hope College Friday at 7 p.m., with George Fox and
Oglethorpe meeting in the other matchup at 5 p.m. The two
winners will meet for the right to advance to the Final Four on
Saturday at 7 p.m.
THOMAS MORE WOMEN ADVANCE TO NCAA
SECOND ROUND; W&J WOMEN FALL AT #2 HOPE
The opening round of the 2009 NCAA Division III Basketball
Tournaments saw both PAC qualifiers in action,
with the PAC champion Thomas More women advancing to the second
round. The Saints (27-2) posted a
76-61 win over
Randolph-Macon at Messiah College in Grantham, Pa., behind a
game-high 22 points by sophomore C Nicole Dickman. TMC
now advances to face host Messiah, which advanced with an
opening round win over Eastern Connecticut State, tomorrow
(Sat., March 7) at 7 p.m. In other women's tournament action,
Washington & Jefferson saw its season end at 24-5 overall
following an 87-64 loss at #2-ranked Hope College in Holland,
Mich.
TMC, W&J SELECTED FOR NCAA
TOURNAMENT
Three PAC basketball teams have been selected to compete in
the 2009 NCAA Division III
Men's &
Women's Basketball Tournaments. Two PAC women's squads will
be in action beginning with first round games on Friday (March
6). PAC champion Thomas More (26-2) will face Randolph-Macon
(23-5) at Messiah College in Grantham, Pa. Washington &
Jefferson (24-4), which earned a Poll C at-large bid, will
travel to Holland, Mich. to face Hope (25-1). On the men's side,
PAC champion Thomas More (19-8) will play at Capital (24-4) in
Columbus, Ohio on Thursday or Friday. Specific date/time
information will be added here as it is received.
ALL SAINTS DAY 2009: THOMAS MORE
COLLEGE SWEEPS PAC BASKETBALL TITLES ON FEB. 28
The top-seeded Thomas More men's & women's basketball teams
each captured PAC Championships on their home court on Saturday,
Feb. 28. The Saint women earned their
third consecutive PAC crown with a
59-49 win over
second-seeded Washington & Jefferson. In men's action,
the top-seeded Saints earned their
first-ever PAC title with a
91-65 defeat of second seed
Bethany. Both TMC squads have now earned automatic bids to the
2009 NCAA Division III Tournaments, with brackets to be
announced on Monday (March 2).
