ORSTEIN EARNS 400TH COACHING WIN AT W&J (1/28/12)
With a pair of non-conference victories over Hiram on Jan. 28,
Washington & Jefferson head swimming & diving coach
Mike Orstein earned his 400th victory as head coach of the
President program. Orstein, currently in his 24th season with
the Presidents, now boasts a 400-160-1 dual-meet record as the W&J
head coach. Overall, he owns a 460-185-2 record as a college head
coach (28 years).
2011-12 PAC SWIMMING & DIVING PREVIEW (10/28/11)
Bethany's newly appointed swimming & diving head coach David Dow
will be looking onward with only five returners from last season.
Chatham's interim head coach Gina Mattucci with the help of
assistant diving coach Charlie Hauser will look to improve
last year’s 5th place finish at the PAC's. Dave Fritz will
lead the Grove City women with eight returning seniors and a bevy of
talented underclassmen. W&J head coach Mike Orstein enters his 25th season on
the pool deck this year and is 14 wins shy of 400 for his career at
the college. He will be once again joined by PAC Men’s and Women’s
Diving Coach of the Year Vic Galati. Rob Klamut will
look to lead Westminster with his women's team returning
three of four first-team all-PAC swimmers from last year.

WC'S KLAMUT NAMED NCAA COMMITTEE CHAIR (9/1/11)
Westminster College men's and women's swimming head coach
Rob Klamut was appointed chairman of the NCAA Division III Swimming and
Diving Rules Committee at the group's meeting held June 22 in
Indianapolis. Klamut's term as chairman begins Sept. 1 and will end
Aug. 31, 2012, which will conclude his three-and-a-half-year term as
a committee member.

athlete Desiree Finley of Bethany as
Student-Athlete Advisory
Committee (SAAC) Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month for June
2011. Each month, SAAC members at a PAC school nominate a
student-athlete to highlight based on academic and athletic
accomplishments. Honorees must be a varsity member in their
respective sport(s) and in their junior or senior year.
Scholar-Athletes of the Month must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0
or higher and be actively involved on his or her campus
community.
BETHANY NAMES DAVID DOW HEAD COACH (6/4/11)
David Dow
has been selected as the new head men’s and women’s swimming and
diving coach at Bethany College. Dow, who replaces
John McGowan leading the Bison programs, was most recently
an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Cortland State (NY).
During his tenure on the coaching staff, the Red Dragon men’s
team went 28-5 in dual meets and finished in second place in the
SUNYAC twice, while the women were 21-7 rand finished second at
the SUNYAC meet in 2010 and third this past winter. Dow holds
both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Cortland.

WC'S HERDT PLACES SECOND IN 200 BREASTSTROKE AS PAC SWIMMERS
POST THREE ALL-AMERICA TIMES ON FINAL DAY OF
2011 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS (3/26/11)
PAC swimmers ended things with a bang on the final day of the
four-day 2011 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships
in Knoxville, Tenn., today. Conference student-athletes posted
three additional All-America efforts on the last day of
competition, giving the PAC 13 All-America performances for the
week. Leading the effort was Westminster senior Courtney
Herdt,
who posted the top finish by a PAC competitor this week as
she placed second in the 200 breaststroke with a
school-record time of 2:17.15. She missed becoming a national
champion in the event by 2.47 seconds, as Emory's April Whitley
won the event in 2:14.62. Junior teammate Caitlin Lehberger
took fifth in the same event with a time of 2:18.52 and is
now a six-time All-American. Finally PAC champion Grove City
posted its third All-America swim in the relay events, as the
Wolverine 400 freestyle relay squad placed fifth in 3:26.39.
Relay team members were sophomore Jennifer Ryan, junior
Jenna Richert, senior Sarah Page and sophomore
Angela Palumbo. In team competition, Grove City finished in
11th place nationally with 89 points, while Westminster was 13th
(74 points) and W&J was 29th (26).
ALL-PAC FRIDAY: CONFERENCE POSTS FIVE ALL-AMERICA TITLES ON
DAY 3 OF 2011 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS (3/25/11)
After posting five All-America titles in the first two days
of the
four-day 2011 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships
in Knoxville, Tenn., PAC student-athletes upped the ante on day
three on Friday with five more All-America performances.
Two of those came in the same event, as the Westminster duo
of senior Courtney Herdt (1:03.58) and junior Caitlin
Lehberger (1:03.63) placed fourth and sixth, respectively,
in the 100 breaststroke. Herdt, who earned her first career A-A
crown, broke the WC school record in the prelims (1:02.85).
Grove City also posted a pair of All-America swims, as the
Wolverine 800 free relay team of
sophomore Jenny Ryan,
junior Jenna Richert, sophomore Kaitlin Riesmeyer and sophomore
Angela Palumbo placed fifth in a GCC school-record 7:29.58.
Riesmeyer added an individual A-A honorable mention swim for
Grove City with a 14th-place finish in the 200 butterfly
(2:04.48). Finally, W&J junior Bethany Haver
earned her second laurel this week, as she placed seventh in
the 1-meter diving (412.50).

PERFORMANCES ON NCAA DAY TWO (3/24/11)
The second day of competition is in the books at the
four-day 2011 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships
in Knoxville, Tenn., with PAC swimmers earning two more
All-America laurels to give the conference five All-America
honors in the first two days.
PAC champion Grove City garnered both awards, led by
sophomore Kait Riesmeyer who placed fifth in the 100
butterfly in 56.03. The Wolverine 200 freestyle relay team of
Jennifer Ryan, Jenna Richert, Sarah Page, and
Angela Palumbo also finished 12th in 1:35.82 to garner
A-A status. Both times set new Grove City school records. All

EIGHT FROM PAC QUALIFY TO COMPETE AT 2011 NCAA DIVISION III
WOMEN'S NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP (3/22/11)
Eight PAC women's swimming & diving standouts have qualified to
compete in the
2011 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving National
Championships, to be held in Knoxville, Tenn., from March
23-26.
PAC champion Grove City will send five swimmers to the meet,
while
Westminster will send a pair of swimmers and
Washington & Jefferson will send one diver to the event. In
fact, W&J diver Bethany Haver will be the first women's
diver in PAC history to compete at the national meet. The

Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) has announced the
2010-11 Winter PAC Team Sportsmanship Award winners. The PAC
Team Sportsmanship Award was started in the 2008-09 sports
season, and is an effort to recognize and encourage positive
sportsmanship among conference teams. The award is sponsored by
the PAC Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC).
2010-11 ALL-PAC TEAMS RELEASED (2/23/11)
The
2010-11 All-PAC Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving teams have
been released. The teams are selected via a formula based on
their individual and relay finishes at the
2011 PAC Swimming & Diving Championships at Grove City
College on Feb. 16-19, 2011.
GROVE CITY SWEEPS 2011 PAC SWIM/DIVE TITLES (2/19/11)
The Grove City Wolverines captured both the men's and
women's team titles at the three-day 2011 PAC
Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by the Wolverines as
part of the 2011 Longnecker Invitational in Grove City, Pa. The
GCC men finished with 948 points, comfortably ahead of second place Westminster (654), while the Wolverine
women recorded 888 points to easily outdistance second place Washington &
Jefferson (652). It was the fourth consecutive PAC title for the
GCC men and the third straight team crown for the Wolverine
women. Grove City junior Ben Bowser and sophomore Kait
Riesmeyer swept the PAC Swimming MVP honors, while league
diving laurels went to the W&J junior duo of Justin
Weifenbach and Bethany Haver. GCC mentor Dave
Fritz swept the PAC Swimming Coach of the Year awards for
men and women, while Vic Galati of W&J was the PAC Men's
& Women's Diving Coach of the Year.

HOST GROVE CITY TAKES LEAD IN TEAM STANDINGS AFTER FIRST DAY OF
2011 PAC CHAMPIONSHIPS (2/17/11)
The Grove City Wolverines are in first place in both the
men's and women's team standings after the first day of
competition at the three-day
2011 PAC Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by the
Wolverines as part of the 2011 Longnecker Invitational in Grove
City, Pa. The GCC men recorded 262 points on day one to put them
comfortably ahead of second place Westminster (193), while the
Wolverine women tallied 275 points to top second place
Washington & Jefferson (202).

Preliminary rounds on Friday begin at 10 a.m., followed by
consolation and championship finals beginning at 6 p.m.

GROVE CITY TO HOST 2011 PAC CHAMPIONSHIPS (2/15/11)The
2011 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Swimming & Diving
Championships will take place at the James E. Longnecker
Competition Pool on the campus of Grove City College in Grove
City, Pa., this
Wednesday-Saturday, February 16-19, 2011. The championship
is part of the
2011 Grove City Longnecker Invitational, a 10-school event
that includes both the PAC Championships (six schools) as well
as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC)
Championships (four schools). The championships begin on
Wednesday evening (Feb. 16) with diving preliminaries beginning
at 7:30 p.m. On both Thursday and Friday (Feb. 17-18),
preliminary rounds will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the
consolation and championship finals beginning at 6 p.m. On
Saturday (Feb. 19), the preliminary rounds will again begin at
10 a.m., followed by the consolation and championship finals
beginning at 5:30 p.m. Grove City is the two-time defending
champion for both men's & women's swimming & diving in the PAC.
For the third consecutive year, the PAC Swimming & Diving
Championships will be broadcast live via video webcast. Links to

PAC CLOSES 2010 NCAA D-III CHAMPIONSHIPS (3/20/10)
The
2010 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships came
to a close at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis
tonight, with swimmers from both
Grove City and
Westminster again posting All-America performances. For the
Wolverines, the Grove City 400 freestyle relay team placed fifth
in 3:28.09 to garner All-America recognition. They were joined
by the Westminster duo of sophomore Caitlin Lehberger and
senior Ben Gutmann, who finished fifth and sixth,
respectively, in the 200 breaststroke to also clinch NCAA
All-America recognition. Earning CSCAA All-America status on the
final night with Top 16 performances were junior Courtney
Herdt (13th, 200 breast) of Westminster and freshman
Angela Palumbo (15th, 100 free) of Grove City. In team
competition, the Wolverine women placed 11th overall with 86
points, while Westminster was 21st with 57 points. The Titan men
finished in 35th place overall with 16.5 points.
WC'S LEHBERGER PLACES FOURTH IN 100 BREAST; GCC 800 FREE
RELAY PLACES 5TH ON DAY 3 OF NCAAs (3/19/10)
The All-America honors continued to roll in for PAC swimmers
on the third day of competition at the four-day
NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, taking
place at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn.
Westminster sophomore Caitlin Lehberger earned her second
NCAA All-America laurel in as many events by placing fourth in
the 100 breaststroke in a school-record time of 1:03.79. Joining
her in earning NCAA All-America status was the Grove City 800
freestyle relay team, which finished fifth overall in 7:30.03.
In addition, Titan junior Courtney Herdt, WC senior
Ben Gutmann and GCC freshman Kaitlin Riesmeyer all
earned CSCAA All-America recognition with Top 16 individual

GCC RELAY HIGHLIGHTS DAY TWO OF NCAA MEET (3/18/10)
The Grove City women's swimming and diving team produced
several outstanding efforts Thursday night in the second day of
action at the
NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the
University of Minnesota. Grove City's 200 free relay squad
earned All-America honors by placing seventh overall. The team
of freshman Jenny Ryan, junior Lauren Baur, junior
Sarah Page and freshman Angela Palumbo posted a
school-record time of 1:35.35. Ryan's leadoff time of 24.04 is
also the fastest 50-yard free time in program history. All three
Westminster swimmers were off Thursday and return to action on

WC'S LEHBERGER, GCC RELAY TEAM EARN ALL-AMERICA HONORS ON DAY
1 OF 2010 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS (3/17/10)
The first day of the
2010 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving National Championships
in Minneapolis is in the books, with Westminster sophomore
Caitlin Lehberger and the Grove City women's 200 medley
relay team each earning All-America recognition. Lehberger
placed fourth in the 200 individual medley with a school-record
time of 2:04.15 to become the first-ever NCAA All-American for
the Titans, and the first All-American women's swimmer overall
at the school since 1993. The GCC women's 200 medley relay team,
consisting of freshmen Jenny Ryan, Angela
Palumbo, and Kaitlin Riesmeyer and junior Sarah
Page placed 16th in that event with a time of 1:48.51 to
earn CSCAA All-America recognition. Several other PAC swimmers

NINE QUALIFY FOR 2010 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS (3/8/10)
Nine PAC swimming standouts, including six from PAC champion
Grove City and three from Westminster, have qualified for and will
compete in the
2010 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, to be
held March 17-20 in Minneapolis, Minn. For the Wolverines,
juniors Lauren Baur
and Sarah Page, sophomore Jenna Richert, and
freshmen Angela Palumbo, Kaitlin Riesmeyer and
Jenny Ryan
will represent Grove City at the 2010 Championships. Grove
City's 200 and 800 free relay squads both received invitations to
the NCAA Championships. Because those two units received
invitations, the participating members can also compete in events in
which they provisionally qualified.
For Westminster, junior
Courtney Herdt of the women's team was the one
Titan swimmer who made the cut with a provisional qualifying time,
joining senior Ben Gutmann of the men's team and
sophomore Caitlin Lehberger of the women's team who
already had their tickets punched with automatic qualifying times.

The defending PAC champion Grove City Wolverines lead the
men's and women's team standings following day two of the three-day
2010 PAC Swimming & Diving
Championships. The championship is taking place at the Longnecker Competition Pool on the campus of Grove City
in Grove City, Pa., on Friday, February
19, as part of the 2010 Grove City College (GCC) Invitational.
The Wolverine men finished day two with 634 points and hold a
comfortable lead over second place Westminster (466). After
ending day one in third place in team competition, the GCC women
moved into first place with 532 points, narrowly ahead of both
Westminster (470.5) and Washington & Jefferson (436.5). The
final day of action takes
place on Saturday (Feb. 20), with preliminary rounds beginning at

Championships took place at the Longnecker Competition Pool on the campus of Grove City

After the opening day, the host Wolverines lead the men's race
with 299 points, ahead of second-place Westminster (204). In
women's competition, Washington & Jefferson narrowly leads a
close three-team race with 218.5 points, just in front of
Westminster (200) and Grove City (186). Day two action takes
place on Friday (Feb. 19), with preliminary rounds beginning at
10 a.m. and finals starting at 6 p.m.

The
2009 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championship is
halfway complete following events on Thursday, March 19. On the
women's side,
the Westminster 400 medley relay team earned All-America
honorable mention laurels with a 12th-place finish
(3:53.14). The top Titan individual was senior Megan Mier,
who finished 37th in the 100 butterfly.
PAC SWIMMERS POST SOLID FINISHES ON DAY ONE OF THE 2009 NCAA
D-III CHAMPIONSHIPS
The first day of competition at the
2009 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on
March 18 is in the books, with several PAC student-athletes
posting strong performances. On the women's side,
Westminster
freshman Caitlin Lehberger was 19th in the 200 IM, while
Emily Dressler placed 33rd in the 500 freestyle. In relay
action, the Westminster women posted a 12th-place finish
in the 200 medley relay.

A conference-record 15 PAC student-athletes (11 men, four

Westminster will send four women's swimmers to nationals,

The 2009 PAC Swimming
& Diving Championships are officially in the books, with
host Grove City sweeping the men's and women's team titles. The GCC men ended
the three-day with 949 team
points, comfortably ahead of second place Westminster (805.5) as
GCC captured its second straight PAC men's team crown.
The Wolverine women finished the event with 833.5 points, edging
Westminster (759.5) and defending champion W&J (735). GCC
mentor Dave Fritz earned PAC Men's Coach of the Year laurels, while
Rob Klamut of Westminster was PAC Women's Coach of the
