WAYNESBURG TABS LOCAL DUO FOR PROGRAM
Waynesburg hired Ron Headlee as head wrestling coach on February 15. He will assume the head coaching duties following next weekend’s competition at the NCAA Midwest Regionals in Crawfordsville, Ind. Joining Headlee on the Yellow Jackets’ coaching staff will be John Yates, with whom Headlee worked as an assistant at Waynesburg Central High School in recent years.

THIEL ROLLS TO NINTH STRAIGHT PAC TITLE
The Thiel College Matcats continued their recent domination of Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) wrestling, as they captured their ninth consecutive PAC team title and 16th in the past 18 years at the 2008 PAC championships on February 13. The Tomcats captured six of the 10 weight classes en route to 145.5 points, easily topping W&J (105.5) and host Waynesburg (58). Freshman Nick Garber from Waynesburg was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament after capturing the 141-pound title with a pair of pin fall victories. Coach of the Year honors went to Washington & Jefferson head coach Jay Robison.

2008 PAC CHAMPIONSHIPS IN WRESTLING, SWIMMING & DIVING SET FOR THIS WEEK
The PAC will host a pair of winter championship events this week. Waynesburg University will host the 2008 PAC Wrestling Championships on Wednesday (February 13) at 6:30 p.m., as Thiel will try to earn its ninth consecutive league title.

THIEL'S MURPHY, BROWN COMPETE AT 2007 NCAA DIVISION III NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Thiel College senior wrestling standouts Corey Murphy and Kyle Brown are competing this weekend at the 2007 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, hosted by Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. You can follow all the action here.

THIEL'S COREY MURPHY NAMED MOW AT NCAA
D-III MIDWEST REGIONAL QUALIFIER
Thiel College senior wrestler Corey Murphy earned Most Outstanding Wrestler honors while capturing the 165-pound title at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Qualifier, held February 17 at Manchester College in Manchester, Ind. Murphy was joined by Tomcat heavyweight Kyle Brown, who also captured his weight class as both qualified for the NCAA National Championships while leading Thiel to a seventh-place regional finish. Washington & Jefferson finished 12th at the event (paced by Patrick Wilson's third-place finish at 174 pounds) while Waynesburg was 15th.

The Tomcats captured five of the 10 weight classes en route to the victory. Freshman Damian Rose from Thiel was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament after capturing the 141-pound title with a pair of pin fall victories. Coach of the Year honors went to Tomcat head coach Craig Thurber for the fourth consecutive season.

BROWN NAMED SAAC SCHOLAR-ATHLETE
The PAC has named Thiel senior wrestler Kyle Brown as PAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Scholar-Athlete of the Month for December, 2006

THIEL RANKED #21 IN NWCA PRESEASON POLL
The Thiel Tomcats are ranked 21st in the nation in the NCAA Division III wrestling preseason poll put out by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).

The Thiel Matcats won six of the 10 weight classes to capture their ninth straight PAC title.


Waynesburg freshman Nick Garber was named the 2008 PAC Outstanding Wrestler after capturing the 141-pound title with a pair of pin fall victories.
